Negative experiences with Wordpress and Drupal plugins

I want to demonstrate the use of SIOC in Wordpress and/or Drupal for
biomedical research purposes, so I tried out the respective SIOC
plugins. My experience so far was quite negative -- both plugins did
not work for me.

I tried the newest Wordpress plugin with Wordpress 2.1, 2.0 and 1.6.
It was the same with each version: The plugin did not show up in the
plugin list of Wordpress. I had to add a header-section to the plugin
files so they would appear in the plugin list. However, after
activating the plugin, nothing changed. No additional SIOC statements;
Semantic radar did not indicate SIOC results.

I also tried the Drupal plugin with the newest version of Drupal
(4.9), but once again, the plugin was not even shown in the plugin
list, although I copied it into the correct directory.

Negative experiences with Wordpress and Drupal plugins

Hi Matthias,

That is strange - normally they should just work. However, situations
when things do not work are possible with any software. Could you send
me a URLs where SIOC plugins are installed so that we can debug it?

For WordPress plugin - what version are you using and what URL did you
get it from? The correct URL containing v1.22 is at:
http://sw.deri.org/svn/sw/2005/08/sioc/wordpress/

File 'sioc.php' already has a header and is the only file that needs
to have a plugin header. It includes the other file
'sioc-include.php'.

Best,
Uldis

Negative experiences with Wordpress and Drupal plugins

The problem with the SIOC plugin was solved by downloading the files
once more. The trivial cause of the errors: one of the files was
damaged.

Thanks for your quick answer,
Matthias

You can also visit #sioc IRC channel at irc.freenode.net and ask
questions there.
Most of the time there is someone present who might be able to help.
