PNG please

Great posters, they really show the concepts on an understandable
level.

I had sent the SIOC uri to the creator of Tagcloud.com, as evangelizing
to the "Web 2.0" community can be my best contribution. He could not
display it, for some reason.....

Peter Murray Rust has a good take on PDF:
http://wwmm.ch.cam.ac.uk/blogs/murrayrust/?p=28

So this is a request for a png file.
I tried Adobe's online tool for the first poster, it failed to convert
to html.
If I'm able to convert to a compact portable lightweght open format, I
shall do it and send to John.

Question: I would like to make t-shirts, notepads, etc., promotional
materials of the SIOC logo, is this okay?

best,

Alex

Thanks for spreading the word. :)
We find SIOC fascinating and are glad to find out there are more people
who do.

PNG versions are now online at the same URL:
http://sioc-project.org/pdfs
Notice 3 new attachments:
- http://sioc-project.org/files/2_a_sioc_users_guide_large.png
- http://sioc-project.org/files/3_a_sioc_developers_guide_large.png

I was lost trying to convert them to PNG, but it took only a couple of
seconds for our colleague Knud ( http://sw.deri.org/~knud/ ) , his Mac
and GraphicsConvertor to complete the task.

So now there are PNGs which should be more Web2.0 friendly.

An interesting article, but not entirely convincing.

For the purposes of print publishing PDFs are probably the best option
bearing in mind that the other often is MS Word. Screen presentations
are a different thing - XHTML is a good alternative to PowerPoint
there.

In this particular case we needed to ensure that SIOC handouts are
printed exactly as they appear on screen.

Sounds like a good idea. :)

I think we should do this, but please get a response from John before
you do since he is the author of SIOC logo and much of visual design in
SIOC and sioc-project.org.

Best,
Uldis

Hi Uldis,

Thanks for the quick response, and thanks to Knud for the pdf to png.

Perhaps they could appear on the homepage, as an alternative to the pdf.
I understand the need for having handouts print as they match the
screen, but when pdf is used for online viweing, it is often a
disaster, with the information destroyed by the format, slow to load,
browser crashws, etc. (have seen it twice trying to show the PDF.

Thanks for helping build the word!

The domains "spreadthesemanticweb.com/net/org" have been registered
with the idea of a community site like spreadfirefox.com.

I am hoping that Chris Messina, creator of the spreadfirefox campaign, can help.

And of course, all of you.

Best,

Alex
