SIOC profile for 'sioc-project.org' A SIOC profile describes the structure and contents of a community site (e.g., weblog) in a machine processable form. For more information refer to the <a href="http://rdfs.org/sioc">SIOC project page</a> [Fwd: SAWSDL and SIOC] FYI, about synergies between SAWSDL and SIOC - we will keep you updated about developments. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: SAWSDL and SIOC Date: Thu, 02 Nov 2006 14:00:50 +0000 From: Tomas Vitvar To: public-ws-semann@w3.org CC: john.breslin@deri.org, uldis.bojars@deri.org Hi all, I had a discussion with people here in DERI Galway (Uldis Bojars, John Breslin - cc'd) about SAWSDL and SIOC [1] synergies. Please find below some points: - In general, SIOC aims to build the domain ontology along with tools, etc. for online communities where each community site which will adopt SIOC and will be providing its data in SIOC could be further integrated/agregated with other interested parties. - Regarding SIOC and Web Services, they intend to use (Web) Services as a query interface which would be provided by a site to query its data. Currently they use REST services and run SPARQL queries. - SIOC people intend to submit SIOC to W3C however this has not been done yet - they are waiting for some additional inputs from partners. - The possible use of SAWSDL and SIOC could be in annotation of search services either by means of some classification ontology on e.g. discussion topics, etc. The purpose of this annotation could be then in discovery of a proper search service (pre-selection of the service from all services available within all online communities) to directly answer specific needs of a user/agent. This scenario would be rather visionary at this stage of SIOC development. - We have agreed that I will provide the input to the W3C submission document into the section of related work/standards where we can sketch this scenario based on SAWSDL spec. - This could be the starting point for our collaboration which could evolve to a chapter in the usage guide and implemented use case.
